my meaningful birthday
certain days in the year are special coz they mark memorable family holidays or religious and cultural festivities which are usually followed by much feasting (and fasting eventually)..
but there's only one day a year that is the most special to none other than the person herself/himself.
aye-
i'm talking about birthdays.
lookin back, i guess this year was one of my most meaningful birthday celebrations ever.
Nope there were no big parties, balloons, poppin of champagne, etc.
but there were my friends and family.
and that's all that mattered to me.
my week long celebrations began with jenn plannin a get together for my year batch of trackers at the botanic gardens on a lazy sunday evening,
loungin lazily on the botanic gardens lawn,
dining on a hastily prepared picnic meal (courtesy of the ever convenient cold storage) and letting our ears soak in the strains of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra amidst the family crowd..
wad a treat!
i've been wanting to go to the botanic gardens to hear the SSO, not that i'm a big fan of them or classical music per se, just that i wanted to exprience such a seemingly rustic activity here in bustling singapore city.
i absolutely enjoyed it!
thanks jenn haur!!!! =D
headed to ben&jerry's at dempsey road whereby es&i treated them to the merlionster and yummy waffles.
oh ya, other halves are invited along too. hee.
es was really a dear in helpin to take photos and all.=)

lovin' the lawn!

he makes me go wheeeee*
finito.the other day of celebration took place on my birthday itself!the day started off memorably by bidding a final farewell to our dearest beloved gctc at pasir panjang hill road..saddens me to leave the place which had become somewhat iconic in my memories of undergoing training at solead..but time passes and the only constant is change i suppose.took the rest of the day off to spend with es.as usual, es never fails to surprise me.haha.stepping into the car, i found my seat covered with a ginormous bouquet of my absolutely favourite flowers-yellow calla lilies!
it's the first bouquet he's ever given to me by the way.absolutely couldn't stop gushing. hee.the only dampener of the day had to be our grand plan of frolicking by sentosa beach going down the drain when the rains came.oh wells.dinner more than made up for it though.ate at yummy Grilled Out along the famed sunset way in clementi.absolutely yummy!little did i know as i pigged into my dinner that es had yet another surprise in stored-jlow and james popped up from behind me!i was initially a lil disappointed that i didn't have the time to meet up with my dear buddy james before he enlisted coz of ministry activities, so it was an absolutely pleasant surprise.the night ended with me being stuffed full of too much cake and going home with happie memories of a day well spent, a gleaming necklace from soo kee jewellery around my neck while hugging my giant bouquet of flowers with a pretty card.thanks dear for everything!=)
we wanna soak up the sunnnn!

=)

all of us
last and final bit of my celebration was with my family.
nothing completes a proper birthday like the warmth and good cheer of a family=)
we headed to corduroy&finch at bukit timah looking forward to a sumptious meal.
my sis especially could not wait to review their food (yes she writes food reviews on the sideline) since she ate their dessert before and it was yummy.
however, the wedges were all burnt and oily and they replaced mine with lumpy mash potato coz they ran out of wedges.
in fact, they ran out of many other stuff.
now the food certainly ain't cheap and the service isn't much good either, so that was quite a dampener.
nonetheless, the chocolate platter dessert which comprised of a smattering of their chocolate entrees certainly whet up an appetite and leave u hungering for more!
the molten cake which has a warm cake crust on the outside and oozes rich delightful liquid chocolate as you bit into it was my absolute fav!
that is a must try!*slurrrps*
