horrid. that's wad my short week in sch was like. i prac blew my top every day.
last week i was forced to raise my voice at numerous situations. this week i was literally forced to shout/yell at them every other 10min. it's so.. irksome. it's frustrating for me. because they have been changing teachers, they haven't gotten their basics drilled in proper and the tests keep coming and their results are such telling signs of their lack of skills. i've come to bear this weight of atlas' because i do not want to see them flunk all the way,yet they aren't making things easier for me! they keep talking, they can't sit in their places for more than 2 min,it's hard for me to teach! i have to go thru unit 4 with them so they can be ready in time for their test on thurs, yet the days in between do not permit me sufficient time to go thru that chap as well as prac skills and do revision with them. and yet, they keep talking and talking and running and slapping and disturbing each other and complaining. yes-complaining. that has got to be their no1 habit. 3/4 of wad comes out of their mouths are complains. ranging from the usual 'teacher he beat me' to the ubsurd 'teacher he write faster than me'. -.-" catch up kid. i'm not ur psychological counsellor here to raise ur self esteem by scolding a person who can think and write faster than u. grrrrrrrs. and while they complain, precious min are passing by me. oh goodness. i know they are only primary three and incapable of understanding my plight and the gravity of the fate which awaits them, but still.. it's just frustrating.
i feel really really tied.
to add on,the tests for maths and sci are usually conducted during eng period where the whole class is intact coz they split up for maths and sci according to their strengths. which means that the alreayd limited time i have for eng is once again reduced. was asking one of the teachers today which period the test will be given for next tues and she looked at me with the you-are-crazy-to-plan-so-far-ahead look on her face when really,it's only 4 days away. it's not alot. esp if u have a whole ton of things to go thru and mere grains of time to utilize. this whole feeling just sucks.
bah.
and then there's track too. the kids are of varying age from P3-P6 and their attention spans are also the of varying lengths.surprisingly,it's the lower pri that are still more disciplined and attentive. i wish my P3 class could be like them. but the upper pri kids are forever running all over the place. now if only they could focus their energies and transfer it to running trng proper. sighh. also, their relay comp is in march.they only have ONE track trng a week, the other day is for drills, which means that from now till the comp itself i only have 3 trngs on the track. each trng is abt 20min not counting warm up and drills time. some of them dun even know wad relay is,others are doing the old style of passing. i dunno if i'm doing the right thing to change the style now. to make things worse, the entire P6 girls team which is the strongest, will be joining gals soccer now coz they did so last year and they won. sighhhh. how am i to churn out a medal at this rate?
and i'm not even the one pressing for a medal.
i'm tryin to think of so many ways to make my lessons fun, trng fun.. like testing their reactions playing a revamped version of blow wind blow so i can pick out my first runner since first runners need to have fast reaction. then i have this novel idea of turning my gurkha lesson times into some gameshow style whereby they have to run to a 'hot seat' to answer qns coz they can't sit still, forever run all around the spacious classroom, but they like to volunteer answers,so wad better way then to combine both their strengths? and yet another idea of changing the seating arrangement in my form class to facilitate certain ways of teaching is struggling somewhere in my mind but i can't quite place my finger on a fixed idea yet..
i think i'm an idealist. i'm not being really practical am i?
sighh.
i had a sudden craving to go to the national museum today. i need a dose of arts. any keen souls?
