yesterday was a complete bummer.i got my first job.and i quit it by the end of the day.with my feet completely numb.sighh.basically u had to go from door to door and 'promote the company's clients' which currently is a charity organisation called new hope community services located at yishun.so yesterday was my training and observation day.i was attached to a team leader as my trainer and we went from door to door and did some 5 steps way of promotion and then we appealed to the house owner to contribute $10 to the charity after which we will issue a receipt.it was against my principles.it's CHARITY.u shouldn't get paid to do it!even if u are 'creating awareness' for them, so they say, it's still not right.and it took me a day to conclude tt that's really not wad i wanna do.but yet i didn't quit it until this morn actually.wad held me back was the people i was working with.they really are a nice and fun bunch.there are 2 grps of abt 10 ppl each and everyday they each set a personal target of how many receipts they wanna clear and then they have team cheers and certain catch phrases like when someone says 'okok?' the rest must reply 'alright alright!' and vice versa.and if someone says something agreeable with everyone, they all have to go 'JUICE by that!'with JUICE meaning Joint Us In Company Expansion...so.the cheering and all placed me in a comfy position since i come from cheering schools half my life.i think the fellow newbies who joined me were kinda stunned though since they dun really come from schs tt cheer.thank God for Cedar and VJC.haha.and i really felt quite bad to quit coz the company supposedly saw some potential in me to be a high achiever-or-something-like-that as told to me by Timothy who is one of the team leaders.i thought it was just all nish-nash.until i realised i was the only newbie attached to a team leader while the rest were attached to outstanding team members who were once trained by team leaders before.hmmm.oh wells.it's over anyway.after a day spent climbing down 11 storeys THREE times while conquering each house enroute and then climbing down another 10 storey flat,it was time to call it a day.and i didn't even munch coz i wasn't really hungry and we didn't have time for tt either.my feet was numb.i wasn't eactly in the most comfy shoes on earth since they are a pair of new flats my sis just bought tt had a little heel.they are actually comfy, but not if u had to do wad i did.so i got pass the 2nd interview by the end of the day.yet..i was still undecided.so i headed to earshot at the arts house which is thankfully pretty nearby coz my feet was screaming heartless murder by that time.i just love earshot.if u go there at the right time, the nice jazzy lounge music is playing, there aren't really many people save for the young working adult group and you may just get the nice couch.ok i didn't get the couch but i still got some comfy seat.pity the table that used to have some inbuilt cd player and ear plugs for u to get plugged in to is no longer there.oh wells.i just relaxed there for a while, enjoying a mudpie to calm the raging gastric juices in me tummy, while pondering what to do next before i reflected back on 2006 in preparation for today and tmr's retreat.and then i took out my book to read.i need a new interesting book.wanted to read alfian saat's poems but this women was blocking the shelf and she refused to budge so.oh wells.by the way, earshot is a cafe that promotes local music and works.they have 2 pillars of local music cds as well as one wall of local english works, another wall of chinese, malay and indian [i think] works plus a shelf of local cooking.i neeeeeeeeed to go back and read that poetry as well as this interesting book that briefly talks abt the sights and sounds around singapore.oh yeahh.the 2nd spanish film fest is now on at the arts house and i didn't even know abt it!boo.i wanna catch this film called Things I Never Told You which is abt this woman and her bf who does volunteer work helping desperate people by manning this Hope line.sort of like a suicide helpline i think.oh this bf of hers is obsessed with other people's happiness too.one day,she comes home and gets a call from him saying he wanna break up and that's it.she reacts numbly,go downs a bottle of nail polish [how is tt supposed to kill u?!!!],ends up hospitalised but is soon discharged.she feels terrible, decides to call a doctor, dials the wrong number, and ends up calling the hope line instead.and she ends up having a strange conversation with Don [her bf] instead.interesting rite?!!it sounds pretty intriguing.and there's no more tickets.=(oh wells.may better days lie ahead.
