listening to oasis now.i'm beginning to like it..kinda this mellow tone that suits my mood now.
[escapist]sherene came to church today!really really really uber happieeeee!!when i first saw the sermon topic, her name flashed across my mind instantly.been praying for her for..i can't rmb how long!since last year?wow..it just seems to past by in an instant.and i can see her changing heart these days.. she has been going to her sister's church recently.real heartening!so to all dismal folks out there who are feeling kinda discouraged-keep persevering in prayer!God truly works in wondrous ways!!but i really do pray that she'll be truly convicted of the undeniable Truth.it's tough, but God convicts us in His own way we can never fathom=)the past few days have just flashed past me.i completed my lit essay!so now i only have 2 more lit essays and 1 gp essay to go.fantastic eh?whole life spent writing things i pluck out from among the pages of scripts meant for pleasure and pouring out my own opinions on gp topics i dun really care about most of the time.
seeming seeming..but it's the role of me being a student in this phase of my life.and u do get a sense of satisfaction when u complete an essay.i mean, essays vary from the science idea of 'essays'.when it comes to writing say a bio essay,it refers to like a few paragraphs.do the same for the arts and u can kiss goodbye to scoring a positive grade.it just seems like a great triumph each time i complete an essay [which is rarely anyway],like as if i had just scaled a peak twice the height of mount everest.it is as mentally draining anyway.
thursday nite was absolutely memorable.*smiles*finally got to go to a poetry nite.and this wasn't any poetry nite.it was co-organised by dom chua and included big local name poets like Cyril Wong.Alfian Saat was supposed to be there as well but he couldn't make it as it was the opening night of his play Homesick.which reminds me that the Singapore Theatre Festival is ongoing rite now and it's the first time ever for such an event and i'm not even going to any of the shows.while sher's mother is so nicely asking her if she wanted to go for one of the plays,my mother's words of 'NO MORE PLAYS' just reverberate through my thoughts each time i cast a glance upon any play.it's just utterly irksome.whenever it's time for any major exam [O's],some new interesting play comes hopping down the path.it was the Lady In Black in sec4.uber irksome.can someone please drown me in the world of the arts with an endless pool of money and eternity of time at my disposal?arrrrghs.but i have digressed too far.anyway, the poetry nite was a blast!it was everything i did and did not imagine it to be.the couches and different styles of reading poetry were wad i had flowing through my mind ever since a fren of mine first described her experience at poetry nites abt a year ago.but this was of coz..for a different group of ppl who used to frequent the Nation parties i suppose.anyway,we were a varied bunch.to all who think poetry reading is mere recitation that drones on endlessly, you are so wrong.it incorporated varying rhythms, tones and the first one even sounded like a rap.cyril's poem was especially unique coz he played the piano while dom read out his poem on his behalf.as for dom's own poem,he incorporated the powerpoint of an online chat room into it.i thought his second poem was extremely sentimental and really bared his soul.rather poignantly sweet actually.of coz- the straight guys just dun get it.anyways,i really am grateful to my mother for giving me leeway to dive back into the arts briefly and to ryan tremendously for inviting me.if i were to die now,i would do so as one happie satisfied person.of coz my next goal would be to go for those stand up comedy acts now.=)[wanted to put up some pics but i'm too lazy to load online.and poetry nites are meant to belong to the poetry and the poets rite?narcissists we can be.sighhh]played floorball on friday and got whacked by the stick.there was some bruising on my left eyebrow but i've sinced iced it and the slight swelling has gone down.shucks la.i really need to improve on my floorball skills and not bend so low as to get whacked by the stick.at least the culprit was rather nice and kept asking after me like as if i was gonna concuss any minute or wad.but omg.it's such a killer to play with guys.coz they really whack rather violently, except after a while,u realise the guys ain't that fantastic after all.oh wells,at least i got to play with my ex-eye candy.heee.*smiles*been thinking about wad my sis said abt wishing that we could be mad as inspired by the titular character of Veronika Decides to Die.yes-i always feel kinda like the characters for awhile after reading such mad books on insane ppl.unlike veronika though,i wouldn't want to be mad and yet confined within a compound of like minded ppl.i wanna be mad and free in the outside world and not feel the shame that comes with simply being different in an outstanding way from the crowd that swarms around you.can true freedom be attained in the world of the insane?hmmm..now i'm reading Final Notes from a Great Island by Neil Humphreys.u know i've always been such an escapist,or at least i've always aspired to.reading abt his exploits trampling all over this lil island is something i've always wanted to do and envisioned myself doing so as i lapped up his book.the crazy part of me intends to do so once As are over.the rational side of me knows it'll never work out.sighhh..and so i travel around my homeland from the confines of a book written by a foreigner who has adopted my homeland as his too for 10 years and yet has covered more singaporean soil then i ever did in my 18 years of existance on this lil red dot.sad sod.sometimes i feel my thoughts spiralling outta control.it's like if i loosen anymore,i'll never be able to return to reality.i really really love the arts but i'm not that arty farty a person.there's tonnes more people much knowledgeable in this area.i'm a mere medium sized fish in a small pond where i am now,u understand?i dunno..but i just like the feeling of being in a seemingly entirely different space and time and world.it's just..magical.i'm going out to the sea..who's gonna anchor me back before i drift beyond the horizon?
