Coming Through The Rye
by Robert Burns
Coming thro' the rye, poor body,
Coming thro' the rye,
She draiglet a' her petticoatie
Coming thro' the rye.
O, Jenny's a' wat, poor body;
Jenny's seldom dry;
She draiglet a' her petticoatie
Coming thro' the rye.
Gin a body meet a body
Coming thro' the rye,
Gin a body kiss a body—
Need a body cry?
Gin a body meet a body
Coming thro' the glen,
Gin a body kiss a body—
Need the warld ken?
this is the poem that inspired the title of the book i'm currently reading- The Catcher In The Rye.quite an interesting read.i realise that the books i've read in recent years are always about some problemetic psycho kid.take The Curious Incident of the Dog in The Night Time for instance.and Vernon God Little.[go check up these reads if u dunno them!!]really...i actually envy these people.it's like they can really do whatever they want to do without the restrictions society enforces on u as the 'norms'.talk about freedom of expression,these people embody it so well.
sometimes i just wished i had the same liberty as them,to do whatever i feel like doing even if it's frown upon by uptight grown ups.but then again,i am kinda like the uptight snots sometimes.haiz...such is the irony.
but i wouldn't like to be like Holden Caulfied,not at all.to not find joy in stuff and to not wanna use my excellent brains to excel in school,that's sad.u can have fun taking potshots at ppl,just dun let ur braincells degenerate so that u can switch schools like every 2 months and add more ppl into ur ever growing list of ppl to snide at.really...his comments are humourous and entertaining to see from his point of view and actually identify with him on some.but i wouldn't be that joyful if i were him.such a sad emotionally unstable life he leads.
but it's definitely a good read,takes ur mind to another level of perspective.would strongly recommend it!!=)
there's a difference between wearing normal sneakers and asics training shoes.it's like,the asics shoes provide so much more support and cushioning for ur feet than those 'trendy good lookin' normal footwear.i really felt the difference when i was switching shoes yesterday.the impact was immediate.i could suddenly feel the 'hardness' of the bare floor when i changed back from my well supported asics to my minimal cushioning nikes.
this 3 day a week ritual of changing from my nikes to my asics to my nikes again is symbollic to some extent.like when i'm in my asics,i'm totally in my track and field and mode.but when i'm back in my nikes,track goes with my asics.i dun mean to say that i dun bother about track and field when i'm not trng,it's just that,there's so much to embrace about life outside track as well!!somehow,i just let track consume my thoughts too much.i need to get away from it!!
there's only so much i can do about it,and track can only be so much a part of my life,eventually it'll just be a 'has been',but wad about my 'wad is to come'?i must nurture those as well.
and so i conclude,that when i'm in my asics,i'll let track mode take over me.but when i'm in my nikes or arnold palmers,track shall not consume me!!
today was a day of rest spent mostly sprawled on my bed reading when i wasn't horizontally spent in unconsciousness.i think fatigue simply took over my body.the weekend and the incident after that has been physically as well as emotionally draining.but i know there's only so much i can do,and so i seek my comfort and place it all in the hands of the good Lord.
wished sometimes that i had just someone on earth whom i could confide in to and who actually understands me too...
thanks sher for ur listening ear amidst the huffing and panting during our 4 rounds today!really appreciated it!=)
went to school for pe/trng since josef tan wasn't around,so no point going to school for just 1 period of econs tut which would prob fly past me as usual.i think mr goh's sole purpose is to just yakyakyak until pe is over and then blame us for not doing things faster and draggin time while depriving us of the chance of showing our hidden waiting-to-be-flared tennis prowess.oh we're doing tennis this term!!weehee!!i mean like we just barely got to touch the tennis racket and he had to give us a whole darn 15min long lecture abt the proper way of HOLDING it and the lesson was up.we didn't even get a chance to whack the ball la!though sherene,ying and i decided to be rebels and whack a few balls around a lil bit.still...i hope the next lesson will be more fruitful.didn't feel like trng today actually,as in physically.coz my whole body just felt so weak.after crossing the overhead bridge,my hands got all cold and clamy and had barely any feelin in them.after pe,i felt even worse.but at least gym today wasn't exhausting.talked to ms yu too...haiz.why must so many things bog me now???at leats trng ended on a better note for me,hope some misunderstandings were cleared.leaving it all up to Your hands now Lord!sometimes i really wonder too if daryl gets what i'm saying..?hmmm.
